Organizing Your Medical SuppliesHealth Comments Off

When you try to find medical supplies at an unfamiliar house, it can be frustrating. You may have an emergency situation, but you may not know where anything is. If you don’t organize your own medical supplies, though, this is exactly how things will be in your own home! When you need a bandage or some aspirin, you’ll have to dig through cabinets and drawers because you won’t know where anything is. There are a few ways to think about organizing the first aid supplies and medications you have on hand, so here are a few ideas.
First off, you could buy a few clear plastic tubs. Label one tub for wound care, one for medications, and one for care for bruises and sprains; your system could look different from this, but at least you’ll want to group the supplies in some logical fashion so that anyone could see which box was needed for which occasion. Then, when someone gets a scrape, all you need to do is pull out the wound care box to find the bandages.
If you prefer to have your supplies all stored in one box, you could buy a fishing tackle box or a craft organizer. Try to find something with different sized slots so that everything will have a spot and won’t slide around. This has a couple of different uses. Firstly, it allows you to easily find whatever you’re looking for at any given moment. Secondly, it allows you to easily see when you’re running low on a particular supply so that you can make a list for restocking your box.
Whichever way you decide to organize your medical supplies, be sure that the people in your household know where things are and how to put things away so that all the necessary supplies are at your fingertips at the first sign of trouble.
